Poison dart frogs, a fun colorful animal for kidsThese are some of the most amazing little creatures of the rainforest. There are many different species and colors; blue, green, yellow and even red! The name poison dart frog comes from the poisonous skin that they have. The native people of the rainforests will put the poison on a dart or arrow and use it to hunt animals. These frogs don’t get very big, they are almost always smaller than an inch.

They will eat a variety of small insects such as:

  • Crickets
  • Worms
  • Beetles
  • Cockroaches

Poison dart frogs can be found near:

  • Marshes
  • Creeks
  • Rivers
  • Anywhere else fairly moist in the rain forest
